Covid-19, threats to boycott the film and everything in between did not stop Laal Singh Chaddha to reach the theatres. The Aamir Khan starrer film marked his return to the big screen after a long time, and fans were glad to finally see him in a new avatar. The turban-clad Laal has so far gotten mixed reviews from critics. Let us see what fans think about the film.
Laal Singh Chaddha is the official remake of Forrest Gump, which starred Tom Hanks in the key role. The official production house gave a thumbs up to the Hindi remake and the many posts on Twitter also suggest that the film is worth a watch. Social media platforms are abuzz with praises for the film, calling the storyline ‘inspiring’ and far ‘better than the original’.
“Brought the essence of Indian cinema back!! Laal Singh Chadha is a masterpiece. Hats off,” wrote a user. Another user called the movie ‘simple lovely and beautiful’. Fans even appreciated Kareena Kapoor Khan’s acting in the film, calling her a surprise package in the story.
Despite the positive reviews, it is being reported that the film has taken off to a rather slow start at the box office. The occupancy is pegged between 15-20% over morning shows. Laal Singh Chaddha is anticipated to get a better collection eventually, which will heavily rely on positive word of mouth. Trade analysts expect the film will certainly see an increase from evening onwards.
Laal Singh Chaddha also clashes with Raksha Bandhan at the box office. The film stars Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar in lead roles. The film revolves around the festival of Rakhi, and is an original script, which may give it an upper hand. However, it will be interesting to see if these films will be able to revive the theatre business or not.
