Sex Education Season 3 is set to arrive on Netflix. It will be released on the streaming platform on September 17. Created by Laurie Nunn, the British show was renewed for Season 3 in February 2020.
Netflix shared the update on the much-awaited chapter of the series on its official Twitter account along with its first look photos, including new cast member Jemima Kirke. The Sex Education characters set to return for the third season include Otis (Asa Butterfield), Eric (Ncuti Gatwa), Jean (Gillian Anderson), Maeve (Emma Mackey), Aimee (Aimee Lou Wood), Adam (Connor Swindells), Jackson (Kedar Williams-Stirling), Ola (Patricia Allison), Lily (Tanya Reynolds) and Headmaster Groff (Alistair Petrie). Season 3 will consist of eight episodes in total.
According to Deadline, the logline for season three is: “It”s a new year, Otis is having casual sex, Eric and Adam are official, and Jean has a baby on the way. Meanwhile, new headteacher Hope (played by Kirke) tries to return Moordale to a pillar of excellence, Aimee discovers feminism, Jackson gets a crush and a lost voicemail still looms. Prepare for commitment animals, alien phenomena, vulva cupcakes and much more of Madam Groff.”
Earlier this month, Gatwa has revealed some special details about the upcoming season of the series.
“I can’t talk about it too much,” Gatwa said, peaking to Digital Spy and other press ahead of the BAFTA TV Awards. “This season, Eric returns back to his culture a lot more and I think those scenes were very special, just having a set where the majority of people were Black. “And it was really great and really powerful and represented Eric’s culture and his family. Those are always quite profound moments.” He admitted that it “feels good” that he gets to play a character that doesn’t usually get represented on such a big show.
The series is written and created by Nunn and produced by Eleven.
