Rahul Dravid is a household name in Indian Cricket history. During his playing days, he has been acknowledged for his work in the under-19 sides as well. He is one of the few guys in Indian cricket who cannot be hated. He recently appeared in an advertisement for a cred app, and he was seen shouting at people during a traffic jam. That video went viral, and everyone was simply in awe of the now-retired batsman. Rahul Dravid has been named the head coach of the Indian cricket team that will be traveling to Sri Lanka for the white-ball series starting mid-July.
The primary Indian side, including Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Rohit Sharma, will be in England for the World Test Championship final and the five-match test series against England. This means that the coaching staff, including Ravi Shastri, batting coach Vikram Rathour will be in England with the main squad. The second-string side led by Shikhar Dhawan and deputy Bhuvneshwar Kumar was announced last week, with many players called up for the first time. Dravid is known for nurturing and building the career of young players by guiding them and motivating them during their successes and failures. He was the head coach of the under-19 side, which won the tournament in 2018. He has already worked with the Indian side as a batting consultant in 2014 for the England series. So this means it will be Dravid’s second stint with the Indian side. The team leaves for Colombo on June 28 and will undergo three days of rigid quarantine before training in quarantine till July 4. After that, they will be allowed to train normally before the series gets underway on July 13 in Colombo. The fans are over the moon with this excellent decision taken by the BCCI (Board of Cricket Council of India). Over the past two to three years, social media has seen many comments wanting Rahul Dravid to be the coach of India and have expressed their desire to make this wish come true. The fans would be pleased and hope he continues his excellent run of form as a head coach.
Under his leadership and nurturing, young players like Devdutt Padikkal, Prithvi Shaw, Ruturaj Gaikwad can learn a lot and have a great experience from this tour. Everyone, including Dravid’s fans, would be hoping for an excellent result for him and his side.
