Sri Lanka has declined since their legendary cricket players such as Kumar Sangakara, Mahela Jayawardena, Sanath Jayasuriya, and Tillakaratne Dilshan retired. All the liability fell on the youngsters who are not good enough. One such example can be the recently concluded series against England, where they were whitewashed and were not up to the mark and thrashed in all three games. Last night, another incident occurred, which has put the whole team’s name to shame.

The two Sri Lankan players were seen roaming about in the streets and are known to have breached the bio-bubble. These two players are Sri Lankan Vice-captain Kusal Perera and Wicket-keeper batsman Niroshan Dickwella, two of the squad’s most senior players. Both of them would have to go into isolation and would therefore miss the ODI series against England. There is also a fine that might be imposed against them by the UK Government. The players could not go outside and roam freely in Durham as the COVID cases are high. They were allowed to roam freely in Cardiff, where the ODI series is set to begin. Such bio-bubble breaches are the last thing that the players, management, and the fans were looking forward to. They also have a series scheduled against India at home, and if such breaches are regular and security measures are not accurate, the series might get canceled. Sri Lanka has already been badly affected by Covid and would not want a team bound to enter their country to leave without even playing a series.

The players are already not performing well, and if Sri Lanka loses these two players, who are a crucial part of their batting line-up and fielding set-up, they will be in serious trouble even before a ball is bowled. These players had an abysmal T20I series and have been deficient in fielding, but they are also experienced, making their role crucial. More details about the England Tour and the India series will come after the case is thoroughly investigated and a proper conclusion is there.
