After several delays and controversies, Alia Bhatt- starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi is finally set to hit cinemas on February 25, 2022. The Sanjay Leela
Bhansali directorial is an on-screen reiteration of the life of Gangubai from Kathiawadi who was somewhat of a force to reckon with in the Kamathipura of the 1960s. The movie is also said to be based on the book Mafia Queens of Mumbai by S.Hussain Zaidi.
Gangubai Kathiawadi is one of the many films that are hitting the theatres in February. From Badhaai Do to Shabaash Mithu, here is a list of all the releases planned for February:
Starring Deepika Padukone, Siddhanth Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday, Gehraiyaan is a complex romantic drama. A love triangle directed by Shakun Batra, the film was earlier slated for a January release. The film will now release on February 11 on Amazon Prime Video, and will mark Padukone’s OTT debut.
Starring Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar , the film is a comical but illuminating take on gay relationships. Pednekar plays the role of a 31-year-old who is interested in women. She gets hitched to a cop played by Rao to escape the pressure of their families and chaos happens when her girlfriend shift to stay with the couple. The movie releases on February 11.
Taapsee Pannu will be seen alongside Tahir Raj Bhasin in Looop Lapeta. The story revolves around Raj Bhasin’s character losing a mobster’s cash and Savi (Pannu) racing against time to save him from getting into trouble. The film is a Hindi adaptation of Run Lola Run. The film will stream on Amazon Prime video on February 3.

Another film starring Pannu is Shabaash Mithu and it will see a theatre release on February 4. Based on the life of Test and ODI captain of the India women’s national cricket team, Mithali Raj, the film chronicles the ups and downs of her life.
